Hi there, I'm Ted! I've been a photographer for over ten years. A few years ago, I started messing around with digital painting/drawing as a therapeutic way to deal with anxiety. What started out as a fun hobby very quickly turned into a passion that I simply had to keep pursuing. Wanting to continue cultivating that newly discovered artistic side of me while never casting aside my lifelong love for photography, I came up with the "best of both worlds" idea of combining forces into the mixed media art form called paintography. Basically, I manipulate my own photographs using various digital artistic techniques, transforming them into paintographs. No cheap gimmick app filters are used whatsoever - all photos and brush strokes (approx. 10,000 - 30,000 total per paintograph) are authentically and uniquely made by me!
My hero, Ansel Adams, once said, "Nature is a vast, chaotic collection of shapes. You, as an artist, create configurations out of chaos. You make a formal statement where there was none to begin with. All art is a combination of an external event and an internal event. I make a photograph to give you the equivalent of what I felt...To photograph truthfully and effectively is to see beneath the surfaces and record the qualities of nature and humanity which live, or are latent in, all things." From that general philosophy, Out of Chaos Art was born. It is the combination of my passions in photography, painting/drawing, and mixed media, resulting in the creation of truly unique pieces of art that capture the natural beauty, humanity, and honest emotion in the everyday chaos of life.
